Spreadsheets

Below you can download our mineralogical and geochemical spreadsheets. These can be used to recalculate mineral stoichiometry based on electron microprobe analysis. All you have to do is enter your major element analysis into the first column and let the spreadsheet do all the hard work for you. There is an individual spreadsheet for each of the major mineral species (e.g. feldspar, olivine, pyroxene), and a few more obscure minerals, some of which will include slots for unusual elements (e.g. Nb in rutile). Many of the spreadsheets will also calculate the most common species end-member percentages (e.g. An, Ab and Or in feldspars).

We also have a number of other spreadsheets available that can be used to calculate a whole range of useful geochemical and geological parameters, such as the density of a magma from it’s whole-rock major element composition, or bulk trace element KD values of a specimen given the it’s mineralogical make-up.

All the spreadsheets are free to download and distribute. All we ask is that you acknowledge our hard work in any thesis or publication that you use the spreadsheets for. To download the spreadsheets, simply click on the file icon below and the sheet should automatically open in your favourite spreadsheet application. Alternatively right-click the icon and select the most appropriate menu option for your operating system and browser.
